Roadside & Dumpsite Cleanups

Through a wide variety of activities and projects, LWA works to promote conservation and environmental protection throughout the entire Loyalhanna Creek Watershed. In addition, LWA constantly looks to engage community members in all of these projects. Roadside and trail cleanups, nature trail revitalization and recycling are just a few projects coordinated by LWA.

Roadside & Dumpsite Cleanups
Roadside & Dumpsite CleanupsIn the spring, LWA coordinates the clean-up efforts of roadsides and dumpsites throughout local communities. Each year, over 70 miles of roadways are cleared of debris by volunteers from local businesses, clubs, organizations and individual community members interested in preserving the beauty of the area. Events include the "Latrobe Corridor Cleanup" and "Great Ligonier Valley Cleanup".
River Sweep
River SweepLWA coordinates the annual River Sweep of the Loyalhanna Gorge each June with help from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. Route 30 East/West along with the Sleepy Hollow Causeway area are cleaned of roadside litter, tires, car parts and other trash by area volunteers.
"Currents" Newsletter
